Vegan Halloween Candy

Even with the pandemic, people are coming up with creative ways to safely social distance and pass out Halloween candy this year. Check out this list of vegan-friendly Halloween candy that children (and the child in all of us!) will love!

Non-vegan ingredients in candy

First of all, what exactly is in candy that makes it not vegan? Some common ingredients in candy include:

  • Milk and cream
  • Eggs
  • Gelatin
  • Honey and beeswax
  • Carmine and cochineal
  • Shellac and confectioners glaze
  • Sugar (remember, some sugar is made with animal bone char. Organic sugar or sugar in the raw does not contain bone char.)
Jack-o-lanters and other Halloween decorations.

Vegan Halloween 🎃

You can purchase a variety of different vegan candies here from the Natural Candy Store.

What are you or your kiddos dressing up as for Halloween? 🎃 What goodies will you be handing out? Be sure to come back on Friday to see what Ellie is dressing up as this year! 🐶 Any guesses??

  1. I’m happy to hear about raw sugar. I think I’m doing something half way good and find out the opposite! Typically I’m not a candy person, which I’m happy about. But I do on a very rare occasion love a payday and a plain Hershey bar. Of course, they aren’t on your list. BUT, the good news is I love high cacao (80-88%) chocolate. Will you be passing out vegan candy this year?
And what is in gelatin? And to think of shellac on candy UGH!!!
Eleanor and her costumes are adorable!! She brought a big smile to my face! We need a lot of joy right now! So keep posting her pic-that is if she doesn’t mind! HA!!
Always well written, Thank you! God bless!
    ❤️

    1. Gelatin is made from cow or pig bones, skin, and connective tissue. 😝

I’ve decided to skip the vegan candy and sweets for trick-or-treating this year and only hand out non-food alternatives. After a couple of years living in our neighborhood, I’ve found the kiddos really love the non-food goodies!

Ellie will be back on Friday in her Halloween costume! 😂
