International vegan chefs preparing a meal.

Vegan Chefs (and Restaurants) Around The World

Today, October 20, 2020, is International Chefs Day! It is a day to celebrate the profession. And, for experienced chefs to pass along their culinary knowledge to the next generation of chefs. In honor of this, (and since Friday was World Food Day), I am highlighting some prominent vegan chefs around the world. 🌱

Vegan Chefs Around The World

These vegan chefs are revolutionizing the food industry. Their creativity and innovation is incredible! Plant based diets are continuing to become more mainstream. My hope is that others will be inspired to follow in these trailblazers’ footsteps. 💚

Eddie Garza

Hispanic chef, Eddie Garza, knows first-hand the power of a plant based diet. At 21 years old, Eddie weighed 310 pounds. By adopting a plant-centric diet, Eddie lost over 150 pounds and reversed his declining health.

Chef Eddie is also a cookbook author, motivational speaker, culinary coach, and a leader on issues related to the Latin community’s health.

Kirk Haworth was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2016. However, he discovered his symptoms were reduced by eating a plant based diet.

Chef Kirk has perfected his craft in Michelin-star restaurants around the world. Based in London, Chef Kirk co-founded a plant based restaurant and event space with his sister.

Celebrating plant based food and creativity, he hosts an online cooking school, workshops, and food and drink development events (among other things). His restaurant also focuses on “sustainability for people and for the planet.”

Matthew Kenney

Chef, cookbook author, entrepreneur, and educator, Chef Matthew specializes in plant based cuisine. He has also founded over 40 restaurants around the world, including in Buenos Aires, Dubai, Sydney, and New York City.

Mark Reinfeld

With over 20 years cooking and teaching experience, Chef Mark is an award-winning chef and founder of the Vegan Fusion Culinary Academy. His goal is to “bring mindfulness, passion, and compassion to the culinary world by encouraging more people to discover the pleasures and benefits of plant based cooking.”

The author of 8 books, Chef Mark has also led vegan cooking and chef training workshops around the world. In 2017, he was inducted into the Vegetarian Hall of Fame.

Vegan Food is the Future! 🌱

People like this inspire me everyday. And I am beyond proud to be part of this movement. 💚

There’s a reason more and more people are choosing to eat a fully vegan diet. (In addition, there are others who are consuming more plant based foods). A vegan diet is healthy, sustainable, and ethical. The changes I have experienced since going vegan are astounding.

  1. Have you found Miyokos cheese in America? That is something I love but have cut back significantly.
The top chefs always seem to be in the big cities. How awesome you ate at a place while living in Australia and weren’t vegan. The aussies seem to know how to eat heathy.
    Thanks for the blog!
    ❤️

    1. Yes! I have found Miyoko’s cheese in our local grocery stores, Natural Grocers, and Whole Foods. There are many delicious plant based cheeses on the market, but I have found homemade vegan cheese to be the best. It certainly takes a little getting used to, and it’s not at all the same as “normal” cheese. But now, I can’t imagine going back to dairy cheese! 🌱
