This week has been full of breakfast-related holidays! Today is national cereal day! Enjoy these vegan alternatives for some of your favorite breakfast cereals.
Most traditional cereals are not included in a plant-based because of added sugar, being fortified with vitamin D, or containing gelatin.
If cereals contain the vegan certification, they are safe to eat on a vegan diet.
Cascadian Farms products are all organic, but not all are vegan friendly.
Nature’s Path products are all organic and many are vegan. They are strong promoters of sustainability, and it is their goal by the year 2025 for all of their packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
Added bonus: their boxes are kid friendly and are packed with information about wildlife and the environment.
Here are a couple of options that closely resemble some of your favorite traditional cereals. And in my opinion, I found some of them to be even better than the originals.
Nature’s Path Chocolate Choco Chimps
Intended to replicate Cocoa Puffs, I think they do a pretty good job. They are less sweet than I remember Cocoa Puffs being, but that’s probably a good thing!
Nature’s Path Peanut Butter Panda Puffs
This one was good, but it didn’t have enough peanut butter flavor for my liking. If I’m having peanut butter, I want a LOT of peanut butter. If you like it more subtle, this one’s for you 😊
Cascadian Farm Fruitful O’s
Think Froot Loops…but not. 🥴 They have a distinct flavor, and unfortunately these were my least favorite that I tried.
Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch
This tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. But better. My favorite cereal by far that I tried. No need for soy milk, I ate them straight out of the box! 🙈
I have found all of these cereals at Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Target.
For the healthiest option, try making your own granola. There are tons of really good recipes for homemade granola on Pinterest. This is one of my favorites.
My favorite plant milk to eat with cereal is either oat milk, flax milk, or soy milk. I like to add some fresh fruit for an added boost of flavor and nutrition.
Who else doesn’t like soggy cereal?? 🙋♀️ I always eat mine out of the tiniest bowls (think ramekin and smaller). I have to eat crunchy cereal! Do you have any odd or unusual routines when eating cereal?
Have you tried any of these cereals that I mentioned? Which is your favorite?
Make it your mission this week to find a plant-based version of your favorite cereal! Let me know how it goes 😊
