Utilizing a Food Processor in Vegan Cooking

Ask any vegan and they’ll tell you one of their favorite and most utilized kitchen appliance is a food processor. I use mine all. the. time. Whether it’s blending a vegan cream sauce, making plant based cheese, or pulsing ingredients into a vegan meat, the uses are endless. I seriously can’t eat a plant based diet and live without my food processor! So, I’ve got some creative ways for utilizing a food processor in vegan cooking. 🤗

A food processor is an electric kitchen appliance that is used for slicing, chopping, mixing, blending, or pureeing foods. While a blender is typically used for foods that are mostly liquid, a food processor can be used for foods that are mostly solid. Additionally, many food processors will have different blades and attachments that can be used to precisely chop, slice, and grate vegetables and other ingredients.

Food Processor Uses in Plant Based Cooking

There is a wide variety of food processor uses in plant based cooking! In fact, I utilize it so often, I actually have two.

The most common ingredient I use to blend in the food processor? Cashews! Cashews are commonly used as the base of many vegan cheeses, creams, and sauces.

For best results, opt to purchase a nicer food processor, if you are able. The more powerful the appliance, the better results you will get.

Also, the longer you blend in the food processor, the smoother texture you will get. Depending on what you are making, sometimes it can take up to 10 minutes in the food processor to obtain a silky, smooth texture. Trust me, your patience will pay off in the end! 🌱

  1. A food processor is the best! I have to admit I’m always using the same blade. Last Christmas I decided to try and use the slicing blade for a potato recipe. I couldn’t believe how quickly and perfectly sliced they were. Why in world did I never branch out to using different blades!!!
THANKS for showcasing different small appliances.

    1. Food processors are awesome! There are so many different blades and attachments, it’s amazing what food processors are capable of anymore! Glad you enjoyed 😍

  2. P.S.
I had to pin the cucumber hummus! Sounds wonderful! Love hummus, cucumbers, and fresh dill and lemon! Can’t go wrong with that combo. Anxious to try!!!
